NTPA Heads to Shelbyville, IN for Region II Action WORTHINGTON, Ohio – The National Tractor Pullers Association (NTPA) visits Shelbyville, Ind. on Saturday, July 5 at 7 p.m. Three classes featuring some of the toughest regional competitors in the country will be on hand to battle it out as they continue toward an NTPA Region II points championship. The Light Super Stock Tractors, Two Wheel Drive Trucks and roaring Pro Stock Tractors will push their limits to claim a victory and bragging rights. NTPA Region II includes four states: Indiana, Illinois, Ohio and Michigan. Regional competition features the best NTPA National and State level competitors from their geographical area. Light Super Stock Tractors are powerful, agricultural type machines which appear in the heartlands of America, but looks can be deceiving! These John Deere, Case IH, Ford, and Allis Chalmers’ brand tractors create tremendous horsepower and wheelspeeds. Diesel or methanol alcohol fuel powers these machines, which can utilize up to four turbochargers on a stock block. These machines will provide some of the evening’s wildest rides as the weight to horsepower ratio will be close to 2:1. Taking the 2007 Region II title was Shawn Peetz of Coatesville, Ind. driving “Unfinished Business.” The Two Wheel Drive class uses truck bodies as well as T-bucket and funny car bodies possessing single, supercharged racing engines. These vehicles are known for their high wheel standing passes. Their big block V-8 power will pierce the air as they make their way down the clay track in search for full pull. Randy Petro took home the Region II title in 2007 with “Kathy’s Komplaint.” Pro Stock Tractors are limited to one turbocharger and diesel fuel is the only allowable source for powering these machines. John Deere and IH are the dominant brands, but oftentimes another brand or two is found mixing up the “green and red” parade. The agriculture-based fans will see a slight similarity in the appearance of these tractors in relationship to what they see at home in the field, but the power and paintjobs on these machines are just two of the differences that will jump out. The 2007 NTPA Region II Pro Stock Tractor Champions were Mark and Andy Lawyer of Hagerstown, Ind., driving the powerful “Rapped Up.” The NTPA is the sport’s oldest and most respected truck and tractor pulling sanctioning organization. Governed by a board of directors, the NTPA is managed by World Pulling International (WPI), an independently owned entity. Headquartered in Worthington, Ohio, the NTPA provides rules and regulations and the infrastructures required for organizations throughout the country to arrange truck and tractor pulls. The 2008 NTPA Championship Pulling Circuit is sponsored in part by Chevrolet, Enderle Fuel Injection, Pennzoil, Turbonetics Turbochargers, Cen-Pe-Co Lubricants, R + L Carriers, You Crate, United Soybean Board, MAC Trailers and SpecCast/Gottman Toys as well as other supporting sponsors.
NTPA Championship Pulling airs four times weekly as follows: Saturdays at 4 p.m., Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m., and Wednesdays at 2:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Each week, a new episode of “NTPA Championship Pulling” will premiere on Tuesday and repeat during the scheduled air times listed above. RFD-TV is available through DirecTV (379) and Dish Network (231). Also, two additional airings per week are made available in high definition in certain areas of the country on RFD-TV HD.
