Worthington, Ohio---On Friday and Saturday, July 7 and 8, the National Tractor Pullers Association teams with the Arcola Volunteer Fire Department in Arcola, Indiana to present the Arcola National Truck and Tractor Pull at Branning Park. Part of the NTPA Championship Pulling Series, the event will include five Regional National classes on Friday and six on Saturday. Each evening's action begins at 7 p.m.
In truck and tractor pulling, vehicles drag a 20-ton weight transfer sled along a straight, dirt track as the sled's resistance increases. Within a class of similar vehicles, the puller that achieves the greatest distance is victorious The NTPA is the world's number-one sanctioning organization for premier-level events that feature highly specialized machines resembling farm tractors, trucks, and dragsters and dedicated competitors that battle for purse money and end-of-season championships. With superchargers emitting an ear-splitting whine, massive tires churning clay at 100-mph wheelspeeds, turbochargers pumping columns of diesel smoke into the sky, and engine combinations exceeding 10,000 horsepower, high-performance pulling offers fans a multitude of thrills unmatched by any other motorsport.
On the card for the Arcola National Truck and Tractor Pull both nights are Heavy Super Stock and Light Pro Stock Tractors and Mini and Multi-Engine Modifieds. On Friday, these classes are joined by Four-Wheel-Drive Trucks; on Saturday, Two-Wheel-Drive and StainlessDiesel.com Pro Stock Diesel 4x4s will take to the track. Licensed competitors will earn points toward championships in Region II (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio; LT PS, TWD: RN II-West), and the Heavy Supers, Light Pros, Minis, Modifieds, Four Wheel Drives, and Two Wheel Drives will additionally battle for berths in the 31st Enderle Memorial Pull-Off all-star invitational in Urbana, Ohio on Saturday, September 16.
Class winners from the 2016 Arcola National Pull included Steve Burge of Lynn, Indiana ("Lock-N-Load" HSS), Jeffrey Fussner of Milroy, Indiana ("Busted Budget" LT PS), Austin Spencer of Greenville, Ohio ("Bush Wacker" LT PS), Joey Frasur of Liberty, Indiana ("Runnin' Block" TWD), Ron Newell of Leipsic, Ohio ("Temporary Insanity" FWD), Todd Bultman of Zeeland, Michigan ("Stress Relief" MINI), Don Deane of Trafalgar, Indiana ("Plumbers Nitemare" MOD), and Ryan Writsel of Orient, Ohio ("Lucky Stryke" MOD). Region II class champions from last season were John Pfeiffer of Connersville, Indiana ("Pfeiffermax" HSS), Kendall Houk of Lynchburg, Ohio ("Nothing Special" LT PS), Randy Petro of Camden, Ohio ("Vintage Kathy's Komplaint" TWD), Taylor and Taylor of Eaton, Indiana ("Grain Hollers Mafia" FWD), Bultman, and Writsel.
