Week 18 Preview

Worthington, Ohio---It's another week for crowning Grand National, Region II, and Region III champions as the National Tractor Pullers Association's regular season winds down. Here's what's coming up in Week 18.

On September 7 and 9, it's the DeKalb County Fair NTPA Grand Nationals in Sandwich, Illinois. Thursday, "Truck Night," features the finale of Grand National Super Stock Diesel 4x4s and Region III Two Wheel Drives and Four Wheel Drives, plus the region's lone appearance of Pro Stock Diesel 4x4 3.6 Trucks, all on the twin tracks starting at 6:30 p.m. Central and streaming live at WatchNTPA.com. Holding the lead in each of these divisions are Josh Deeter of Avella, Pennsylvania ("Up in Smoke" SSD 4x4, +9), Dustin Amundson of Nerstrand, Minnesota ("Bottoms Up" TWD, +11), and Matthew Davis of Jefferson, Wisconsin ("Outrage" FWD, +5).

Then on Saturday, "Tractor Day," the Grand National Super Farms will make their DeKalb County debut and determine their champion alongside Super Stock Diesels, Pro Stocks, and Modifieds in two sessions at 12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Central, and again viewable worldwide at WatchNTPA.com. Presently on top are Brad Hart of Clayton, Michigan ("Don't Ask" SF, +6), Travis Schlabach of Marengo, Iowa ("Bone Twister" SSD, +1), Charles Pelletier of St. Armand, Quebec ("CP Dream II" PS, +14), and Ricky Rose of Glencoe, Minnesota ("Giddy Up" MOD, +15).

"Sandwiched" in-between is the Thunder in the Park in Roanoke, Indiana and five Region II classes on Friday, September 8 at 7 p.m. Light Pro Stocks (II-West), Limited Pro Stocks, Two Wheel Drives (II-West), StainlessDiesel.com Pro Stock Diesel 4x4 3.0s, and Multi-Engine Modifieds will entertain the crowd at the Roanoke Fall Festival. Leading the pack in each division are Mike Palmer of Greenville, Ohio ("Red Avenger" LT PS, +6), Brad Boldry of Rochester, Indiana ("Smoke Fever" LIM PS, +6), Randy Petro of Camden, Ohio and Brent Secrest of Coldwater, Ohio ("Vintage Kathy's Komplaint" and "Nuthin' EZ 'Bout It" TWD, tied +52), Rob Wright of McArthur, Ohio ("All Attitude" PSD 4x4 3.0, +14), and Ryan Writsel of Orient, Ohio ("Lucky Stryke" MOD, +20.5). It's the end of the line for the Limited Pros, and we'll crown a champ.

On Saturday, September 9 at 8 p.m., it's the inaugural Brodbeck Seed Fall Nationals in Tipton, Indiana and three more regional classes: Super Farms, Light Pros, and Two Wheelers. It's the final hook in the West for both the Lights and the wheelstanders, while the Super Farms, led by Stan Warda of Berrien Springs, Michigan ("Hammerin' Hank" SF, +30), have one more hook in Michigan.

And on Monday, September 11 at 7 p.m., Old Washington, Ohio and the Guernsey County Fair Pull finish off the Light Pros and Two Wheel Drives (both II-East), StainlessDiesel.com 3.0s, and Modifieds. The two Eastern subregions are led by Kendall Houk of Lynchburg, Ohio ("Nothing Special" LT PS, +17) and Jeff Writsel of Orient, Ohio ("At It Again" TWD, +24).

So that leaves just two points events on the schedule for 2017: next Wednesday, September 13 in Allegan, Michigan and Friday-Sunday, October 13-15 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Both events' regional classes will count toward next year's Enderle Pull-Off. As for this year's Enderle, you'll read all about that in Week 19's preview. See you then.
