Worthington, Ohio---Gold standard. Golden anniversary.
On Friday, August 30, the Fulton County Fair in Wauseon, Ohio will host the M.E. Miller Tire Tri-State Showdown as part of the 50th season of National Tractor Pullers Association Championship Pulling. Welcoming two divisions within the 2019 NTPA Grand National Series presented by Case IH Agriculture and four others from the Association's Region II, the Pro National event will be conducted in one session to begin at 6 p.m.
In NTPA Championship Pulling, vehicles drag a 20-ton weight transfer sled along a straight, dirt track as the sled's resistance increases. Within a class of similar vehicles, the puller who achieves the greatest distance is victorious. At events across the United States, elite competitors campaign their specialized machines---which resemble farm tractors, trucks, and dragsters---for chances at purse money and precious points toward end-of-season championships.
In 2019, the Association is proud to complete its first half century as the world's original and number-one sanctioning organization for premier-level truck and tractor pulling contests. Fierce, fair pulling competition and a family-friendly, patriotic atmosphere are hallmarks of NTPA Championship Pulling. If you haven't experienced the rumbles, roars, and rivalries of the heaviest sport on wheels, why not give it a try in Wauseon?
The M.E. Miller Tire Tri-State Showdown will feature Grand National Four-Wheel-Drive Trucks and Mini Modifieds. Both divisions will vie for national titles, a lucrative year-end points fund, and shares of Case IH bonus monies exceeding $50,000. Also appearing will be Regional National Super Farm and Limited Pro Stock Tractors, Two-Wheel-Drive Trucks, and Multi-Engine Modifieds, all of which will run for titles in Region II, which encompasses Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio (TWD: II-West, MOD: II-Northwest). And all will compete for berths in the NTPA's all-star invitational Enderle Pull-Off on Saturday, September 14 in Urbana, Ohio.
Expected to compete at Wauseon in defense of their 2018 titles are Ben Ellis of Champlain, Virginia ("Benjammin" FWD), Adam Bauer of Paton, Iowa ("Iron Toy" MINI), Charlie and Nick Capozzo of Richmond, Michigan ("Cruel Intentions" SF), Garrett Boldry of Rochester, Indiana ("Smoke Fever" LIM PS), Randy Petro of Camden, Ohio ("Vintage Kathy's Komplaint" TWD), and Ryan Writsel of Orient, Ohio ("Lucky Stryke" MOD).
Last year's winners at the Tri-State Showdown included Ellis, Chase Richardson of Leitchfield, Kentucky (MINI), Dave Whelan of Tipton, Michigan ("My Last Excuse" SF), Ashley Corzine of Assumption, Illinois ("Second Degree" TWD), and Todd Feiss of Lawrenceburg, Indiana ("S'no Farmer" MOD).
Fans in attendance at Wauseon will experience live video, distances, and instant replays on the NTPA's Mobile Videoboard.
