Worthington, Ohio---Thanks to the generosity of those attending the National Tractor Pullers Association's 47th Convention and Awards Banquet, two causes dear to the hearts of many Association members and staffers will receive a significant pre-Christmas present.
The annual Pullers Against Drugs raffle of items contributed by the Association's promotional, sponsorship, and event production partners raised over $2,100. The sum will be split evenly between Pullers Against Drugs, which funds pulling-themed outreach programs in area schools, and the American Cancer Society.
This year's prize roster was augmented by Feiss Motorsports' donation of a paper towel holder that any gearhead could appreciate. Assembled from connecting rods from a racing engine, the towel rack's glossy base is emblazoned with a customized NTPA logo and the familiar "Pullin' for a Cure" cancer awareness slogan. A few weeks earlier, a similarly constructed rack that was raffled at the banquet of the Hoosier State Tractor Pullers Association, an NTPA member state organization, raised over $500 toward cancer research.
Other raffle items that attracted more than a few looks---and sold more than a handful of $1 tickets---included handmade pillows and quilts, pulling apparel and toys, a fully stocked cooler, gift packs and certificates, an iPad, and Marvin the Moose.
The NTPA and its parent company, World Pulling International, express our gratitude both to those who purchased tickets and to those who brought items for the benefit of these worthy charities: Alliance Tire, Jack Burris, Gerry and Brenda Edwards, Haisley Machine, Jim Miller, the Monroe County (Wisconsin) Ag Society, The Northwestern Ohio Tractor Pullers Association, and O'Reilly Auto Parts.
