Worthington, Ohio---The National Tractor Pullers Association and the Meade County Fair have reached a multi-year agreement that will keep Brandenburg, Kentucky on the Association's Grand National schedule through 2020.
Dates for the next four editions of the Meade County Fair NTPA Grand Nationals, Fridays-Saturdays all, are July 28-29, 2017; July 27-28, 2018; July 26-27, 2019; and July 24-25, 2020. Appearing both nights at the 2017 event will be Grand National classes of Light Super Stock, Super Farm, and Pro Stock Tractors and Two-Wheel-Drive Trucks.
Brandenburg is the home pull of longtime NTPA Light Super Stock puller Larry Phillips, who also heads up the track crew for the GN event. The venue, which resembles an indoor arena with its bowl-shaped seating area and tunnel track entrance, provides spectators with unobstructed views and competitors with a unique atmosphere.
Fair Board director Kenny Haught spoke with The Puller magazine during last year's event. "Our facilities have grown tremendously over the years, We like to pride ourselves as one of the best county fair-associated pulls in the nation." Haught continued, "Certainly, the NTPA tractor and truck pull is a main attraction."
Brandenburg's tractor pulling tradition dates to the late 1960s and was a Kentucky state event through much of the 1990s. It joined the ranks of Grand National events in 2006, meaning the duration of their bond with NTPA will have reached a decade and a half by 2020.
NTPA General Manager Gregg Randall is pleased to continue this partnership. "Kenny and Larry and their 50 or so volunteers work so hard each year to put on a first-class event. If you're a fan of pulling and haven't experienced their amphitheater-type grandstands and hillside seating, you need to treat yourself to a weekend in the Bluegrass State."
Brandenburg is just over the Indiana line, with the largest selection of accommodations in nearby Corydon.
