The WPI/NTPA family mourns the loss of Klara Jacobs, 97, of Tomah, Wisconsin on Thursday, September 21. Mrs. Jacobs was the mother of Christine Schreier, wife of WPI President and CEO David P. Schreier.
Klara and her husband Raymond settled in the Tomah area in 1962 following the completion of his military service. She worked as a cook at several area restaurants and at nearby Fort McCoy. Born in Germany, she taught her native country's language to students at Western Wisconsin Techincal College for several years. Mrs. Jacobs was devoted to Queen of the Apostles Parish and enjoyed cooking for family gatherings, knitting, and crocheting. Mr. Jacobs preceded her in death in 1997.
She was an inspiration to her family even in her last moments: "It's leaving you all that is the hardest part, that hurts me ... You don't need to be afraid of what is coming. I am not afraid, I will be fine. I am ready to go." Mrs. Jacobs is survived by children Christine; John (Joanne); Raymond (Maryybeth); Monika (Bill); Edward (Roberta); and Mary, 19 grandchildren; countless great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; a son-in-law Dwayne; and many dear friends.
A mass of Christian burial will be held for Mrs. Jacobs at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 28 at Queen of the Apostles Parish at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 303 West Monroe Street, Tomah, Wisconsin, 54660. Visitation for family and friends will precede the service beginning at 9 a.m. Online condolences may be left here.
Please keep Christine, Dave, and the entire Schreier and Jacobs families in your prayers.
