Father of GN FWD Competitor Ben Ellis Has Passed

The WPI/NTPA family mourns the loss on Sunday, June 30 of Benjamin Ellis Sr., 76, of Champlain, Virginia. Mr. Ellis was the father of Grand National Four Wheel Drive Competitor Ben Ellis Jr. (Benjammin).

A member of Vauter’s Episcopal Church, Mr. Ellis served his community on agricultural boards and the Essex County Board of Supervisors. He was an avid deer hunter throughout his life, and his youthful passion for fast cars transitioned to a pursuit of tractor and truck pulling events. Every day he enjoyed his family, especially the grandchildren and all of their accomplishments. His full obituary may be found here.

Mr. Ellis is survived by his wife Frances; children Ben (Shannon) and Baker Garber (Todd); grandchildren Laura Peyton Ellis, Elizabeth Baylor Ellis, Waring Ellis Garber, Peyton Todd Garber, and Benjamin B. “Tripp” Ellis III; and devoted employee Ralph Taylor.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Ellis' memory may be made to Vauters Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 154, Loretto or to the Tappahannock Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 807 in Tappahannock.

Please keep Ben, Shannon, Frances, and the Ellis family in your prayers during their time of grief.
