Jessie Petro (Camden, Ohio)
2017 NTPA Grand National Two Wheel Drive Champion
Worthington, Ohio---In each of Jessie Petro's six championship seasons with "Buckeye Hauler," the key to the title has been the literal "home stretch": The latter portion of the season's hooks that are located in his native Ohio. Petro's pickup's pick-me-up came a little earlier this year, when a 58-point performance in Brandenburg in mid-July vaulted him to the top of the standings. From then until the Canfield rainout that terminated the season, Jessie registered 185 of a possible 195 points to edge dad Randy's "Kathy's Komplaint" by five. Together, the father-son duo has won the last nine Grand National Two Wheel Drive trophies ("2 Timin'" 2009, "Kathy's Komplaint" 2010-2011) and 11 overall (1995, 2001). Among the rest of the top five, Craig Corzine's "Burn Notice" (-8) claimed the season's first hook in Benson, Bryan McDonald's "Suffering Sanity" (-25) had three straight 30-point finishes from Tomah to Ionia, and Renee Theobald's "Pretty Wicked" had a midseason rally (138 of 150) around her victory in Meade County..
