MINI

Bobcat Jr. Team (Netherlands; Weldon, Illinois; Washington, Pennsylvania; Fitchburg, Massachusetts)
"Bobcat Jr."
2017 NTPA Grand National Modified Mini Champion

Worthington, Ohio---Berrie Boer, Bertus Boer, Jason Hathaway, Phillip Fairbanks, Bill Leischner, and Bart Sluis each took their turns steering "Bobcat Jr.," and each can claim credit for keeping the 2017 Grand National champion Modified Mini atop the standings from the second session at Benson onward. These six drivers combined for four wins, four seconds, four thirds, and three fourths in 19 competitive hooks. The result was a 27.5-point winning margin and the first GN championship ever won by a team based outside of North America, adding to the robust pulling tradition of the Boers' native Netherlands. Hathaway's own "Honkin' Donkey Gray" finished second with three victories on the season. Larry and Adam Koester's "Footloose" (-42, one win) and "Beast of Burden" (-44) took third and fourth and Ken Veney's "Funny Lil' Farmall" (-47.5, two wins) fifth.
