Joshua Deeter (Avella, Pennsylvania)
"Up in Smoke"
2017 NTPA Grand National Super Stock Diesel Four Wheel Drive Champion
Worthington, Ohio---They can't say they weren't warned. When Josh Deeter convincingly swept his two hooks at the 2015 National Tractor Pulling Championships, he served notice that his "Up in Smoke" class-project Chevrolet would be a force on the national stage. Fast-forward two years, and he has become the division's first champion at the Grand National level, with wins in Fort Recovery and Salem amid six finishes of fourth place or better in nine competitive hooks. Turns out the Bowling Green ring has been a pretty good predictor of 2017 success: Carl Atley's "Lethal Weapon" (second, -10, three wins) was the 2016 winner, while Shane Kellogg's "Trump" (third, -19, one win) captured it this year. Don Bowling's "Pulling for the Cure" (-27, one win) took fourth place, while Justin Gearhart's "Cream of the Crop" (-36) won the final hook of the season in Sandwich to claim fifth place and an Enderle berth on a tiebreaker.
