Worthingon, Ohio---The National Tractor Pullers Association is proud to announce an agreement with Virginia Motorsports Park to sanction the Central Virginia Nationals Presented by AED Performance on Friday and Saturday, June 7 and 8.
The two-session event will be the second Grand National of the regular season and will feature Super Farms, Four Wheel Drives, and Light Unlimiteds at the multipurpose facility just off U.S. 1 in North Dinwiddie.
“Hosting an NTPA GNPC level event for the first time at Virginia Motorsports Park is a tremendous opportunity for our property,” said VMP Assistant General Manager Rick Lindner. “It fully complements what we strive to do here at VMP, which is to provide a well-balanced motorsports park destination for the local area, state of Virginia, and beyond.”
Gregg Randall, the NTPA’s GM, identified favorable circumstances as well. “The chance to build a strong presence in the Mid-Atlantic region was one we could not pass up. From my earliest discussions with Rick, we knew that broadening the Association’s national reach into Virginia would bring a new audience to our sport and a prime location at which to compete, especially for our many East Coast pullers.
“We’re excited to pick up yet another state-of-the-art venue where we can showcase our premier-level product.”
Constructed in 1994 and purchased by Tommy and Judy Franklin of Fredericksburg in 2017, the Virginia Motorsports Park facility encompasses over 500 acres just 30 minutes south of Richmond. Renowned for its quarter-mile dragstrip, motocross and BMX courses, and 3,000-seat dirt park, the VMP hosts 100-plus events each year including the Virginia NHRA Nationals, the Monster Truck Throwdown, and the Menards Chevy Show.
The track he represents may be new to the unmatched power and noise of Championship Pulling, but Lindner most certainly is not, having attended the Budweiser Dairyland Super Nationals in Tomah, Wisconsin for over 30 years.
“For me, personally, as a lifetime NTPA pulling fan dating back to my first pull as a youngster in Iowa in the mid-’70s with my father, hosting this event is a dream come true.”
Tickets for the Central Virginia Nationals will be sold at O’Reilly Auto Parts prior to the event and at Virginia Motorsports Park gates on each day of the show. Primitive camping spaces will be available on the grounds to spectators on a first-come, first-served basis. The event will feature the NTPA’s Mobile Videoboard and will be streamed to the world at WatchNTPA.com. Check VirginiaMotorsports.com for information about the facility and local accommodations.
