WPI/NTPA regrets to report the passing on Saturday, July 5 of Robert Kyle Hutton, 86, of Bristol, Virginia. Mr. Hutton was the driver of the single and later twin-engine “Clodhopper” Modifieds as he competed on the Virginia and regional circuits beginning in 1981.
A farmer for many years, Mr. Hutton eventually obtained his commercial driver license and was a professional truck driver until his retirement at age 78. Mr. Hutton enjoyed collecting cars and was a lifelong NASCAR fan.
Mr. Hutton is survived by his daughters Ginger (Rick) and Sally Hutton Sistare; his sons, Robert E. (Mary Lou) and David K. (April); his stepson Martin (Christie) Duncan; six grandchildren and one nephew.
