Inaugural Schreier Memorial Cup to Honor Top Puller in Tomah SSD

Budweiser Dairyland Super Nationals

Columbus, Ohio—The Budweiser Dairyland NTPA Super Nationals has unveiled its tribute to two of the event’s founders in a most appropriate way: An award to be presented in recognition of the weekend’s toughest puller.

The 2024 Dave and Dick Schreier Memorial Cup will pay a $5,000 bonus to the Tomah Super Stock Diesel champion over the course of its June 20-22 run. Sponsors of this prize include Cen-Pe-Co Lubricants, Enderle Fuel Injection, G. Stone Motors, the Norwalk Lions Club, the Monroe County Agricultural Society, and S&S Distributing.

“The Schreier Brothers were instrumental in the event’s infancy,” began Gregg Randall, the NTPA’s Executive Director. “Without their tireless contributions over the course of its history, Tomah would not have become the spectacle that it is today.”

Dave Schreier served for decades as the chairman of Tomah’s Pull Committee and won the 1980 NTPA Grand National Super Stock title. Dick Schreier directed the pull’s track construction and maintenance to cement the Recreation Park strips’ reputation as some of the GN circuit’s most challenging surfaces.

Elder brother Dick and younger brother Dave were lost to the Schreier family and to the pulling world within weeks of each other in the late autumn of 2023.

“These men combined for nearly 100 years’ worth of inspiration and perspiration towards the event in their native Monroe County,” Randall noted. “They guided and grew the pull for both the benefit of the greater Tomah community and the sport of professional tractor and truck pulling through the NTPA brand.”

The Tomah weekend champion is the competitor or team whose vehicle earns the best average finish over the division’s two hooks. Ties are broken in order of greatest total credited distance.

In future years, the honor will rotate among the event’s participating Grand National divisions.

“Those remaining caretakers of the event and sport will continue to build upon the legacy of Dave and Dick Schreier,” Randall added, “and this award will place a remembrance of their great contributions for future pullers and fans to appreciate and acknowledge.”
