We begin our recognition of 2018 Regional Champions in Region 5 with events held in Iowa. You can catch the live-stream of the banquet on ntpapull.com Saturday night December 1, thanks to Kentucky Trailer. Also be sure to see the full recaps of all the Regional and Grand National Champions in the January/February issue of The Puller Magazine.
- Rod Deck focused on his region for his first Super Farm title there since 2010 by winning three out of four hooks. He didn’t stay home, though, as “Dream On” pulled in two other regions and four times in GN. Dan Schulte’s “Binder Express” won in Monticello to place second.
Limed Pro Stock:
- The “Instigator” sprang from the gate with a win at Rockwell. It was the first of four for Bill Figanbaum across the region’s dense Limited Pro Stock schedule and earned him a third title there dating to 2004 in Super Farm. As in Region III, Kevin Lindstrom’s “Hyper Harvester” gave chase and finished second.
Two Wheel Drive:
- Rick Austin drove good friend Dale Stampfli’s yellow Dodge to the regional title over his own “Dirt Flirt” Two Wheel Drive which won at Decorah. “Twisted Tight” went winless in the region but consistently finished strong, posting four top fives in five hooks.
Four Wheel Drive:
- And in Four Wheel Drives, Matthew Davis dethroned reigning champion Jamie Busch with three third places and a steady climb after which he took his first lead after the last flag waved in Monticello. Busch’s "Thunder Struck" had a win and a second to break a three-way tie.
