On Thursday, August 15 at 6 p.m., please join the participants, attendees, and organizers of the National Tractor Pulling Championships in Bowling Green, Ohio in a Celebration of Life to honor Larry Koester, three-time Grand National champion and Make-A-Wish Ambassador.
Fittingly, the ceremony will take place in front of the main grandstand in the Winners Circle, a site of so many of Larry's victories in both competition and charity.
Those on hand for the event's Session One, which is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m., are asked to arrive early to watch the proceedings, which will be displayed on videoboards at either end of the pulling arena and thus visible in all seating areas.
Larry passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on July 20. His personal story and gregariousness made him a beloved figure among fans and his fellow competitors. His representation of the sport extended to his longstanding relationships with sponsor Shell Rotella and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, whose cause he triumphed year-round but particularly each August for more than 20 years. Hundreds of children afflicted with terminal or life-threatening illnesses and their parents had their spirits lifted as they and Larry cheered each other on all weekend long in Bowling Green.
So please watch with us as the people who knew Larry best tell his story and honor a victorious life.
