WPI/NTPA is saddened to learn of the passing on Saturday, September 17 of Michael V. Omps, 60, of Clear Brook, Virginia. Mr. Omps competed on the Grand National circuit in several stints since the 1980s in Four-Wheel-Drive Trucks ("Green Machine" Ford).

That same week, Mike won his first Grand National event in Syracuse. He finished second in Brandenburg, Kentucky in 2021 in what proved to be one of his last NTPA appearances.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marcella ("Beattle") in February 2021. In addition to Willie and his wife Lisa, Mr. Omps is survived by his daughter Kelsey (Matthew) Omps-Artrup, two grandchildren, sisters Jessie (Terry) Gulick and Martha (Wayne) Miller, and several nieces and nephews.
