National Tractor Pulling Championships to Stay NTPA for Next Five Seasons

BG Logo4WebWorthington, Ohio---World Pulling International and the Northwestern Ohio Tractor Pullers Association have reached a three-year accord that will perpetuate National Tractor Pullers Association sanctioning of the National Tractor Pulling Championships through its 57th edition.Already on the NTPA’s calendar as the 2020 season’s third Super National event (following Tomah in June and Chapel Hill, Tennessee’s Lions Super Pull of the South in July), Pulltown U.S.A. will remain the pulling world’s epicenter on the third weekend of every August through 2023.

Dates for the 53rd through 57th iterations of the National Tractor Pulling Championships are August 15-17, 2019; August 20-22, 2020; August 19-21, 2021; August 18-20, 2022; and August 17-19, 2023. Each event will be conducted in a Thursday-through-Saturday, five-session format with classes participating in each session to be announced annually.

“The NTPA is dedicated to continuing the high standard set by the NWOTPA for many years to come and is pleased to renew this agreement,” stated Gregg Randall, NTPA General Manager. “The National Tractor Pulling Championships have earned a spot in the hearts and minds of the pulling world like no other event. From a pure numbers standpoint, this event sits atop the rankings in many categories---participants, fans, campers, and purse to name a few.”

All 13 Grand National divisions will make two passes over the course of the 2019 event, which will also serve as the finale of the Shell Rotella Cup Series. Moreover, this year’s Super Stock Open, Two Wheel Drive, and Light Unlimited divisions will be crowned trackside.
Randall understands the significance. “Many NTPA competitors go to BG to make the final push toward their title, while others feel just one win completes their season or even their career. To be presented a trophy, a plaque, or a check in the NTPC winner’s circle with that packed North Side grandstand as a backdrop has been the highlight of many a puller’s résumé.”

Bowling Green enters 2019 with a streak of six consecutive NTPA Super National Pull of the Year Awards as determined by the Association’s competing membership. The National Tractor Pulling Championships have been bestowed the honor 12 times overall since 1995. The event’s presence at the NTPA’s annual Awards Banquet further extends to sponsorship of the National Year-End Point Fund, the Family of the Year Award, and the Promoters Workshop.
