Columbus, Ohio---Is the pulling offseason dragging along for you? Are you already looking for that next horsepower fix? Take heart: This March, your “Ship” will come in yet again.
The Michiana Event Center in Shipshewana, Indiana will host the third annual Wakarusa Ag/Deutz-Fahr NTPA Shipshewana Spring Nationals presented by Grogg-Martin Auctioneers and Realty on Friday and Saturday, March 18 and 19. The spacious facility, located at the intersection of U.S. 20 and Indiana State Route 5---just minutes south of the Indiana Toll Road and the Michigan state line---will once again house five NTPA divisions in sessions each evening beginning at 6 p.m.
Update: Fan and competitor info.
On hearing the news of the Pro Stocks' return to Shipshewana, Yoder Popcorn of neighboring Topeka, Indiana promptly committed to a $6,000 bonus fund to be awarded to the weekend's top three cumulative finishers in the division. Russ Yoder, the company's leader and a competitor in the division ("Xtra Butter" Minneapolis-Moline G1355), has since been joined by fellow puller and MAC Trailer CEO Mike Conny ("MAC Nasty" John Deere 8410), who has sweetened the deal by another $2,500. This means that the Spring Nationals' Pro Stock champion will earn an extra $5,000!
The massive Trade Show Building admits a regulation-length track as well as full-length general admission (bleacher) and trackside VIP (folding-chair) seating on either side. In addition to the video scoreboard featuring instant replays and on-screen graphics, the main event building will house a vendor concourse and food and beverage stations. NTPA merchandise available for purchase on-site will include official NTPA Shipshewana Spring Nationals event tees and sweatshirts.
New to the event this year are Light Pro Stock Tractors, whose roster of competitors, like those of their fellow invitees, has been established by performance across the 2021 Championship Pulling circuit. Additionally appearing both nights are Light Super Stock, Hot Farm, and Pro Stock Tractors and Stainless Diesel Pro Stock Diesel 4x4 3.0 Trucks. Once determined, a complete list of confirmed competitors will be published in The Puller magazine and at NTPAPULL.com.
Also returning for its third year is the Michiana Farm Show, a presentation of Shipshewana and greater Lagrange County agriculture-oriented and -related vendors, that will fill the floor of the vast mid-complex Coliseum Building. The Farm Show will be active during both Friday and Saturday afternoons, and admission is free for those in possession of a tractor pull ticket.
The Wakarusa Ag/Deutz-Fahr NTPA Shipshewana Spring Nationals and Michiana Farm Show will populate the entirety of the Michiana Event Center complex, which features modern amenities including fixed concession areas and guest services. Fans are invited to tour the open pits in the Staging Building before each session to take photographs and gather autographs from their favorite NTPA competitors.
Once sales have opened, electronic tickets for the 2022 NTPA Shipshewana Spring Nationals will be available for purchase at ShopNTPA.com/tickets. Both sessions will be part of the 2022 Yearly Pass at the NTPA's over-the-top streaming service, NTPA.tv, from which the event may be viewed either live or on-demand for up to one year.
